About Chakra Biotech
Our
mission is to build a portfolio of intellectual property assets related to
new therapeutics and animal models for CNS disorders.
Chakra Biotech is focused on the development of drugs for CNS
disorders, currently a USD50 billion market opportunity. Established in
2001, Chakra Biotech brings together two key intellectual property
assets:
- A world-wide exclusive license to a US-patented mouse
model (the chakragati mouse) for dopamine dysfunction, validated as a model for
screening antipsychotic compounds
- A world-wide exclusive license to a library of novel compounds covered by five patents
Our unique behavioral screening model and lead
compounds provides a solid foundation for creating important new CNS therapeutics.
Management Team
Anthony Bishop, Chief
Executive Officer
Anthony has a successful track record in managing drug development
programs, outsourced development activities and developing Asian-based
services opportunities in the global pharmaceutical industry. Prior to
joining Chakra Biotech, Anthony was Associate Director of Business
Development at Quintiles East Asia and Project Manager on a number of
drug development programs at CSL Limited. Anthony holds a Degree in
Medical Technology from the Queensland University of Technology and a
postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Royal Melbourne Institute of
Technology.
Dr. Anil K. Ratty, Chief
Scientific Architect
Anil founded Chakra Biotech in 2001 and has been pivotal to the
development of Chakra's assets. Previously, Anil served in various
corporate and research positions: Regional Director with Fischer
Scientific; life science researcher at Buffalo General Hospital (USA);
Roswell Park Cancer Institute (USA); the Institute of Cellular and
Molecular Biology (Singapore) and the Defense Medical Research Institute
(Singapore). Anil holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the National University of Singapore.
